Fri, 04 Apr 2008 06:05:00 -0000 Today, we're closer to curing certain types of cancer than ever before. Treatments for other illnesses, including sickle cell anemia and cerebral palsy may be just around the corner too. |
| Barack’s speech reminds why my father is my hero
Fri, 04 Apr 2008 12:00:00 -0000 I never knew my biological father. He and my mother went their separate ways when I was barely two and my brother had just been born. |
| SPEAKOUT: The budget maze
Sat, 05 Apr 2008 06:05:00 -0000 What has 618 pages, spends over a billion dollars more than ever before, and hires 1,334 new full-time workers? No, it is not a new Hollywood blockbuster movie production. It's the budget for the state of Colorado. |
| SPEAKOUT: Debunking the top 10 myths of jury trials
Sat, 05 Apr 2008 06:05:00 -0000 The public holds many misconceptions regarding the criminal justice system. Here are the top 10 myths of jury trials: |
| There’s oil in the green movement
Fri, 04 Apr 2008 18:00:00 -0000 Who would have thought oil would seep its way into our green backyard? |
| Many small changes can improve air quality
Sat, 05 Apr 2008 18:00:00 -0000 The Denver Metro area residents and possibly all residents of Colorado may be facing some tough issues in the near future as our air quality fell below federally acceptable levels too many times last summer. |
| Drilling Roan Plateau not worth the gamble
Sat, 05 Apr 2008 18:00:00 -0000 On March 13, the BLM announced that it was not incorporating suggestions from the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, or any other conservation interests for that matter, and will be giving the go ahead to drill the Roan Plateau based on its own flawed plan. |
| Energy independence is key to future
Sat, 05 Apr 2008 12:00:00 -0000 Anything that raises the cost of oil and gas, which is a part of our cost of living, adversely affects our economy which is already in a recessionary move. |
| SPEAKOUT: Two initiatives that fight global warming
Mon, 07 Apr 2008 00:46:00 -0000 Antarctica is the canary in the coal mine of climate change. And the signs emerging from the most remote parts of the planet couldn't be clearer in compelling policy solutions to global warming, without delay. |
| The budget: An “immoral document”
Sun, 06 Apr 2008 18:00:00 -0000 A “moral document.” This is what Colorado House Democrats called their budget ("State budget clears House,” March 27), which expands government-run children’s health insurance. This moral grandstanding is typical of the anointed, who support expanding Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) — and it’s nonsense. There’s no compassion or virtue in spending other people’s money taken by force. |
| No one dies from a lack of health insurance
Sun, 06 Apr 2008 18:00:00 -0000 Are the American people being scared into government-funded, universal health care? |
| Schools overload on incident reports
Sun, 06 Apr 2008 12:00:00 -0000 Is Denver’s Human Services leaving child welfare decisions too much in the hands of the public schools? |

| Comment: Big elk kill sign of harsh times Mon, 07 Apr 2008 03:04:02 GMT Shame on you Charlie. You need to come out more in favor of sportsmen and women and the resource on this issue. Landowners have numerous avenues to find without killing the resource. Your article is milktoast. Perhaps you do not want to offend landowners. OK. But what difference is this killing of elk and the bison slaughter in South Park. Both are reprehensible. Landowners have a bunch of game damage alternatives to solve their problems. License buyers pay for those solutions. Take a stand against this movement. It has statewide implications and probably a jury trial in Moffat County will find these landowners not guilty. |
| Comment: Rockies swept by Diamondbacks Mon, 07 Apr 2008 03:00:14 GMT Maybe now parking rates will go back to normal for those of us who HAVE to be downtown every day. |
| Comment: Talk runs hot 'n' coal Mon, 07 Apr 2008 02:59:15 GMT China has built 150 coal plants since 2005. That we agonize here over one plant is ridiculous. Expensive renwables only work 33% of the time and have to be backed up by expensive dispatchable gas. We are importing LNG from countries that hate us cause we do not have enough gas! Cheap, reliable coal and nuclear is the answer. |

| Comment: Pupils have Texans on right track Mon, 07 Apr 2008 02:57:24 GMT Goodman? Your Kidding right. What Gems vs Flops has this guy brought to the table for the Broncos? He has been working for the Broncos you know for 20 years. Did he bring in Eddy Mac? or did he find the guys no one can remember. The Broncos have many scouts also working for them. Bobby Turner Scouts the running backs... Alex Gibbs scouted Zimmerman Schlerith(SP? I Know.) back in the hey day... Go to the Broncos website their all the latest scouts are listed there. What's really funny about this point you bring up is that Shanahan was blaming his scouts for the draft / FA failures. He didn't even mention the former GM. I find it funny the fan fare for Goodman taking over the GM spot is all there for him but he does seem smart enough NOT to take the bate. |
| Comment: Autopsy on sky divers completed Mon, 07 Apr 2008 02:51:39 GMT Matt was a great guy.He rescued animals, taught visitors to fly fish and enjoy our mountains. He was funny, great natured and would give the shirt off his back for anyone.!! He will always be loved and missed. You would have done well to have him in your life.I have paid taxes here for over 40 years.USE MINE for whatever is needed to find out how this tragic, heartbreaking loss happened to him and to all of us.Maybe it may save your life one day. |
| Comment: 4 in 5: U.S. steering off map Mon, 07 Apr 2008 02:51:13 GMT Clinton was impeached for a personal affair that hurt no one except possibly the woman involved and Clinton's immediately family. Bush and Cheney's lies about Iraq have caused over 4000 U.S. soldiers and countless Iraqis to die, damaged the US reputation around the world, expanded Al Qaeda into Iraq, strengthened Iran. They have approved torture, spied illegaly on US citizens, violated the FISA law, ignored Congressional subpoenas. An impeachment investigation and trial may be the only way to demonstrate the truth about administration high crimes and misdemeanors. |
| Comment: I do NOT Believe Jesus is G-d! Do you? Do you fear HELL? Mon, 07 Apr 2008 02:48:17 GMT I'm more inclined to fear for the souls of prideful men like Falwell and Robertson. Look at the behavior to see if it is Godly or not. Kindness, love for others, patience, tolerance, forgiveness. Those were not necessarily traits of the earthly pulpit pounders. God's message is delivered quietly around the world. The angry man of God is not the one I'm going to follow, or at least examine what the anger is about. Is it self serving, or is it anger because of harm done to others. | Comment: K.C. goes back, to go forward Sun, 06 Apr 2008 23:48:35 GMT Now DB36, don't get cranky. I wasn't referring to you. Your posts are always worth reading. I just get tired of hearing how great the Chokers have drafted. I didn't even mention Ryan Leaf. Yes, they have swept us the last two years and their fair weather fans act like they have won consecutive SB's. OK, you nego posters...Would you like to have Spanos as owner of the Broncos? That's what I thought. Robertson will be a Bronco and do very well. We will draft the BPA. We all have our favorites but Shanahan likes to suprise. Did anyone predict Cutler? Go Broncos!! |
| Comment: Spendthrifty Raiders gunning for Broncos Sun, 06 Apr 2008 19:38:23 GMT The Raiders are gunning for the Broncs 'cause they know they have no chance in hell of catching the Bolts! |

On land originally belonging to the Presidio, the Palace of Fine Arts was built in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. Today the site, which belongs to the City of San Francisco, features a classical Roman rotunda with curved colonnades in an idyllic park setting. Visitors may picnic, stroll by the lake, or visit the Exploratorium's hands-on science exhibits in the adjacent museum. (source website) ''''Now this building is being upgraded to keep it safe in the next "Big One." |

| Comment: Trading down new strategy Tue, 08 Apr 2008 12:11:43 GMT I would love to trade down for more picks, but am really afraid of missing out on our guy. Clady, Williams, and the rest of the left tackles would be a reach at 12 I know. But their are so many teams that need LT help that I feel like they will reach and we will miss out. I have heard that Shanny admitted that Pears and Harris are back-ups. Period. That is not good. That is a slap in the face from reality. We HAVE to get the O-line help and fast. The help for the D-line may not come this year. We may just have to accept that fact. I see Shanny doing what the Colts did when they got Peyton Manning. They realized what they had for a Quarterback so they went out and loaded up on offensive players. They did that for years. They didn't exactly ignore the defense, but they definitely put the emphasis on the offense. They gave up a boatload of points, but they sure could put the points up on the board. Eventually the defense came around and they win the Superbowl. I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me to do that. And the Colts at that time were a terrible team so it took them a while to turn it around. We shouldn't be that far off I don't think. With that being said I'm sure Shanny will go out and draft all defense. |
| Comment: No charges against Monument boys in racial incident Tue, 08 Apr 2008 12:11:28 GMT It also supports a previous post of mine that you should not support racism by individuals. Though these kids were chanting K'K'K', there were not acting as a part of that group, only as individuals. You keep forgetting about racism in that respect, campbell. And racism by individuals is no better than racism exhibited by any group. After all, a group is nothing more than a collection of like-minded individuals. It all starts with one person... |
